Natural Remedies For Treating Swollen Gums

It is a very painful and uncomfortable experience to have swollen gums. The inflammation results from allergies, infections and injuries, among other causes. Besides pain, you are likely to bleed or feel as though the space between your teeth has increased. There are a variety of natural options for treating swollen gums that will restore your comfort and relief pain without exposing you to side effects.

Clove has been used for medicinal purposes over centuries in different communities. It can be used whole or in the form of extracted oil. Clove oil is mixed with pepper and applied on the affected area. It will treat the pain as well as the inflammation. You may also choose to chew cloves, an act that has a relieving effect on the swelling.

Ginger is a common household item and has been used on many illnesses and conditions. The treatment is prepared by crushing ginger into a paste and mixing it with normal table salt. The paste is rubbed directly on the affected area. It reduces the pain instantly and will also reverse the swelling.

There are multiple ways of preparing lemon that is to be used for treating inflammation. One lemon is boiled in a glass of water and taken two times in a day. Ensure that you gaggle the mixture in your mouth before swallowing or spitting. You may also apply lemon on your gum. Lemon may also be mixed with essence of rose flower and used to rinse the mouth twice or thrice a day.

There is temporary but quick pain relief if you use salty warm water. The procedure for preparation is simple since it requires just a glass of water and a table spoon of salt. Allow the mixture to gaggle in your mouth for up to two minutes then spit it out. Experts suggest that you interrogate the root cause of your swelling even as you turn to home remedies.

Baking soda remains among the most effective home remedies. It is used for massaging inflamed gums by mixing it with turmeric extracts. It gets rid of all infections and bacteria in your mouth which leaves you relieved. An effective preventive option is to add a pinch of baking soda onto your toothpaste during regular brushing of teeth.

Several natural and readily available oils can be used to deal with gum swelling. These oils include peppermint, tea tree and chamomile. They are either used individually or as a mixture and are highly effective. The oils are also effective when added onto toothpaste during regular brushing. The results are excellent when used on regular basis.

Castor seeds are very effective in dealing with inflamed gums within a short time and with a lasting effect. The oil is mixed with camphor and applied on the affected area. It helps to arrest both gum bleeding and swelling. The mixture should be applied twice daily.

Aloe Vera, Lawsonia Inermis leaves, bark of Babul tree and honey have also been effective in dealing with inflammations. The only caution given when using these remedies is to conduct thorough research and consult your doctor. This will prevent allergic reactions or adverse health effects. Focus more on finding a permanent solution other than merely relieving the pain.
