Using Iridology Techniques As A Predictor Of Potential Health Risks

By Paul Rogers

Using alternative therapies that can uncover potential health issues is becoming accepted practice. A number of these methods have been around for centuries. Surprisingly enough, your ancestors might have had answers to many of the health issues you face today. Ancient civilizations had no technology or specialized equipment to analyze ailments. Instead they relied on things like iridology techniques to uncover the underlying causes of the most common physical problems.

It made sense to our ancestors that eye colorations would be linked to the brain and could be studied in order to gauge the physical health of a patient. In the nineteenth century a Hungarian doctor took the theory to another level when he noticed a correlation between the physical ailments of his patients and certain streaks he saw in their irises. The doctor came up with a chart that practitioners still use to match changes in the iris with certain physical problems. Hardening of the arteries and inflammation are two of the most common ailments indicated by changing iris coloration.

Responsible professionals want patients to understand that studying the iris is not a means of diagnosing illnesses. Evaluating irises can not tell doctors their patients have diabetes or cancer. Studies of changes in iris coloration does show experienced professionals the genetic tendencies, or predisposition, one may have to certain illnesses. Iridology is a way to predict potential problems.

Iris examinations are simple and painless. Patients are required to fill out forms that describe their medical histories and lifestyles before the examination. The practitioner uses a magnifying glass type instrument known as an irisodoscope to examine the patient's eye. A camera is sometimes used to photograph the iris. The information from the photographs is downloaded and studied after the examination. The whole procedure is non-invasive.

You need to be careful about anyone giving you health advice. If you are interested in having an analysis of your iris, you need to do some research in order to find a professional with experience and the proper credentials. You can go online to the International Iridology Practitioner Association for a listing of certified iridologists.

The techniques have some controversy attached to them. There have been studies in which several iridologists examined patients with the same ailment. They did not unanimously conclude what that ailment was. There was disagreement among the iridologists about what ailment the patients had. On the flip side, studies have been done showing the technique as an effective way to assist physicians in evaluating a predisposition for certain diseases and chronic conditions.

Most professionals agree that individuals interested in more information about these techniques should steer clear of disreputable practitioners advertising the ability to diagnose serious illnesses by studying the eye. Many of them claim to be able to uncover the presence of parasites and cancers by examining an individual's iris. These people are a waste of time and money and are making dangerous claims.

Most professionals are in agreement that an experienced practitioner can examine a patient's iris and arrive at some general conclusions. This makes iridology an effective screening tool. It can be used by a primary physician, in addition to traditional diagnostic tools, in the examination process.
