The Probiotics For IBS Therapy

By Iva Cannon

The IBS which is the Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a gastrointestinal disorder similar to bloating and indigestion. It requires treatment because it can be a very great source of discomfort to the affected person. Probiotics have been in use to help in the treatment and control of this syndrome. You may have heard about this fact but did not quite comprehend the whole story behind it. The probiotics for IBS treatment is a great and healthy medical therapy.

Probiotics are some living microorganisms or bacteria present in our bodies. Unlike the illness causing bacteria, these kinds of bacteria if used in adequate amounts can offer great health benefits. They are available in foods and supplements. The normal body of a person carries around 500 different types or species of these bacteria whose purpose is to keep our healthy immune system stable and solid.

The use of antibiotics upsets the balance of healthy bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. This causes the lining of the intestines to get damaged which is a dangerous thing. Such wounds could result into ulcers. The introduction of new organisms like those present in the probiotics corrects the imbalance by restoring the intestinal lining to a healthy state just as before.

Apart from treating the IBS, the organisms in this bacteria also help in the treatment of other gastrointestinal disorders which include diarrhea, colitis, bloating, indigestion, and acid reflux. Some studies have been carried out to indicate how responsive the IBS symptoms are for various different probiotic medications.

The Bidifidobacterium infantis is one of these bacteria which have been tested in the high quality tests. It has shown great beneficial effects towards the control of IBS. It has been shown to greatly influence and improve the symptoms of IBS that are gases and bloating. There are more studies which have been conducted although many of this are small and of low quality.

The probiotics can regulate bowel function including sensation, motility and immune function. They can be purchased in many different forms which include pills, liquid or powder. They can also be found in single form or in combination. Some yeast has also been seen as to have some probiotic effects. Yeast, which is dead bacteria, is thus being studied to find out exactly what effect this bacteria have in the treatment of IBS.

To achieve maximum effect in the treatment using these bacteria, there are things which you need to consider. The probiotics should be kept refrigerated. You should also use a treatment that has several different bacterial strains. This will help you in choosing and understanding which one has the best effect on you. The treatment should also be taken immediately after using antibiotics.

Adequate dosage taking should also be done. You should not be afraid of any overdose with the use of these microorganisms. This can never happen. You ought to take a considerable adequate amount of this bacterium for maximum effect. They should not be taken together with food at all. Take their dosage 30 minutes prior to eating or an hour after it. Also keep track of your therapy to see if you are making progress.
