If you are tired of bagged versions, you may want to try one of the many different herbal blends loose leaf tea varieties that are available. Loose leaf teas are considered by some to be superior to bagged versions. People who like loose tea often claim that it has more flavor than products that come in bags. Many individuals feel that the bags themselves change the flavor of the leaves and so eliminating the bag allows someone to get a clearer idea of what a specific blend or variety will taste like.

You may be surprised to learn that some herbal products can have fairly strong effects on your health. Chamomile, a popular ingredient in some recipes, can be quite effective in making someone tired and more able to sleep well. If you need to reduce the water in your system, drinking beverages that include dandelion can help have a diuretic effect. It is no wonder that traditional healers often use herbal teas to treat medical conditions.

Of course, you will need more than just a pot or a mug if you are planning to brew loose leaf herbal beverages. You will need a steeper which will keep the leaves together but will also allow the water to pass over them. Some people prefer a metal ball that they suspend in their pot or mug. Others prefer a special pot or thermos that allows the flavor to develop without letting stray leaves float around.

Caffeine sensitivity can be one reason why some people drink herbal beverages. Keep in mind that some teas can have as much caffeine or more than coffee. Others have different compounds that still give an energy boost. If you are very sensitive to these types of compounds, you may want to ask an expert whether you can minimize the effect or whether a different herbal blend might be better for you.

You might think that all teas steep at the same temperature. This is actually not the case. Some taste best when they are brewed with water that is not as hot. Others do best with very very warm water. You may also need to play around with the length of time you steep a variety at and how many leaves you add to your steeper.

In the past it was hard to find herbal teas to try but this has changed. Many companies now offer different varieties for you to try. Stores will often have samples of different varieties that you can try when you are shopping so that you know you are getting a brew you will enjoy. If you are visiting someone and they have a tea that you like, make sure to ask what it is called and where they purchased it.

You will want to make sure that you are only getting as much tea as you can drink in a relatively short period of time. A container that prevents your leaves from being exposed to the air is a good thing to have. You want to make sure that your leaves do not get dry or stale before you have a chance to drink them.
