Natural Sources Of Lactose Free Probiotics

By Enid Hinton

Probiotics are essential for maintaining your body in perfect condition. They are actually friendly bacteria needed for proper digestion. These beneficial bacteria are important for your immune system and allow better absorption of different nutrients. Most good bacteria-rich foods comes from dairy products, but there are some other, really good sources for natural, lactose free probiotics you can use instead.

In Europe, you will find numerous food recipes containing sauerkraut. This form of fermented cabbage contains numerous beneficial substances, including vitamins and minerals, but it is also a great source of friendly bacteria your body needs. Affordable and widely available, it tastes delicious as salad, for example. Just add some garlic and a little bit of vegetable oil in it.

Another fermented food rich in probiotics is Miso. It is highly nourishing, and it's also a very good source of vitamins B6 and K, as well as some other essential minerals, for example manganese, zinc and phosphorus. It is important to prepare it properly, to preserve all these valuable substances, especially beneficial food enzymes. That's why it shouldn't be over-heated.

Ginger beer is healthy and tasty, and can be used as a great source for natural, lactose free beneficial bacteria. Although it does contain sugar, it is actually a very good alternative to other sweet drinks. It's really affordable and widely available, and has surprisingly good effect on your digestion and health in general. If you have kids, it might be a good idea to replace their favorite sodas with ginger beer.

If you prefer something different, try using coconut kefir. This interesting drink is made fermenting coconut milk, and can be a great source of not only good bacteria, but also numerous vitamins and minerals. For example, it contains potassium and magnesium. Tasty and sweet, coconut kefir has low glycemic index and can be used even if you are on a diet, and will improve your digestion really quickly.

A type of fermented tea called Kombucha is rich in friendly bacteria and vitamin B12. This extraordinary tea also contains a thing called glucaric acid, good in tumor prevention. It is well-known that Kombucha tea detoxifies the entire organism on perfectly natural way, but it will also improve your digestion and help you maintain your health in perfect condition.

Pickles are also good lactose-free sources of valuable probiotics. You will also find other types of fermented foods that can be used as a great source of friendly bacteria, for example pickled plums or pickled ginger. The important thing is that these foods are fermented using salt and other spices instead of vinegar. Include similar fermented foods in your regular diet, especially during winter.

Even if you are a vegan, or lactose intolerant, you can still find different foods to replace good bacteria and improve your digestion naturally, without taking supplements in pills. Of course, you can also find different supplements containing good bacteria that are also lactose free. It is especially important to take similar products when you have to use antibiotics, because they might cause diarrhea and other stomach problems.
